It is August 2nd and the courts in Ethiopia are officially closed until September 15th. Our case did not get seen by a judge in time. In short, that means the earliest Bethlehem and Theodore’s paperwork will be reviewed is mid-September and hopefully by early October at the latest. We would travel within about six weeks of their hearing.

As a reminder, that hearing is where the children become legally Laces. All of the paperwork is in order and completed to OCD standards :-) . Until that time, we couldn’t ask for a better scenario for them to be in. While the waiting is the most difficult part of the process to date, we find great comfort that God has sovereignly planned for them to be spending the next couple of months cared for by their birth mother – a care that no orphanage can equal.

As I’ve shared with so many of you, this process has changed our family in so many ways for the good and we haven’t even met our new children yet. We have so much to be thankful for. Many who travel this road don’t enjoy near the ease and speed that we have experienced.

One such couple is the pastor and his wife from Dallasburg Baptist Church. They are the Dye family and embarked on an Ethiopian adoption last fall. Now, almost a year down the road, they probably have more questions than answers. Please pray for the Dye family.  You can read a little more about their story here: Adoption Stories

We now have a video of Bethlehem, Theodore and their mother from Susan’s trip.  I have it and some pictures posted on a private web page.  Send me an email if you’d like to see them.  I can send you a link but adoption regulations prohibits pictures and video from public display.

Also, I plan to post a couple of stories sharing how God has used this process to teach us more about Him and how He views us – His sovereignly chosen children. So stay tuned for updates in the weeks ahead.  Thanks again for the continued support!
